Now I have to really think about what I say here ;)
I think it's important for people to also think about how powerful an effect comments can have, especially for new bloggers. A comment is both a validation that someone has read the content and connected with it - that can inspire someone to continue on interimmanager, or if too negative, make others consider shutting down.
At any rate, I'll give this more thought but I'm bookmarking this post to share with Friends. Thanks again.John Davishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02135172396362686454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7413734209683589945.post-65586993431281592782011-06-15T07:55:33.016-07:002011-06-15T07:55:33.016-07:00I like this article and have always been uncomfort...I like this article and have always been uncomfortable with the selfish questions for fear of appearing just that. I think, while it may appear obvious to ask the kinds of questions you refer to, people often forget that.

I am interested to get your view on whether you believe there is ever a place for the selfish questions and if, in your opinion, you think some are more acceptable than others? For example, you might ask about flexibiity as it might be a deal breaker for you if the company is against home working.

Or do you think these kind of questions should have been covered in advance with the agency (if they put your forward), or wait until you are in a position of being offered a role?

thanks
ChrisAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15803401933969613634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7413734209683589945.post-91925288418381281102011-06-15T07:52:48.348-07:002011-06-15T07:52:48.348-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15803401933969613634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7413734209683589945.post-67738220844806435502011-06-15T07:45:01.910-07:002011-06-15T07:45:01.910-07:00I guess my worried comment mostly comes from the f...I guess my worried comment mostly comes from the fact I would never ask this question. I don't really believe it has any value as most people would give the stock answers. I would much prefer to spend the time on a quality question.

However, I have though about this over the last couple of days and I guess if someone is able to truthfully answer the question and has a one pager to support this, it would bode well for the candidate.

Personally when asked I tend toward the stock answer and will certainly take this advice for the future. While I can control the questions I ask, I cannot control those asked of me.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15803401933969613634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7413734209683589945.post-82979854799854071602011-06-15T07:40:58.351-07:002011-06-15T07:40:58.351-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15803401933969613634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7413734209683589945.post-20173475067528586882011-06-09T02:24:17.762-07:002011-06-09T02:24:17.762-07:00In my experience candidates that take supportive d...In my experience candidates that take supportive documentation to interviews have been successful and have come across as professional and well prepared.

The information is more objective if it gives a balanced view. Candidates can of course offer the interviewer the opportunity to see the information and if not of interest it can be declined.

An interview should be an opportunity for both parties to learn as much about one another as possible. I am curious as to why you would be worried. The document can be a one pager and does not have to be 'lengthly'.

With regards to my own personal experience, when I last interviewed I took a number of supportive documents with me and had no negative feedback.Mark Badleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09873760071485738043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7413734209683589945.post-24068340155126384702011-06-08T07:44:51.038-07:002011-06-08T07:44:51.038-07:00I would honestly be worried if upon asking the que...I would honestly be worried if upon asking the question "what are your weaknesses?" question, the candidate handed me a lenghty document on the subject.

Has this worked in practice (for you)?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15803401933969613634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7413734209683589945.post-19568685945292829532011-05-27T05:19:45.371-07:002011-05-27T05:19:45.371-07:00Thank you Toni. I feel incomplete without Excel and PowerPoint in procurement and acquisition functions. And what more, Dale Crnegie How to win friends and influence people" is a bible on human relationship which has constant presence at my bedside table for reading it incessantly & repetitively. It has worked wonders for me.I highly appreciate Mr. Bradley to give an insight on these skills.Alihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13873266192905569214noreply@blogger.com
